congrats

Recently at the dojo, three of my long-time junior students attained their junior black belts. It was a very proud moment for all of us at the dojo. The three students have been with me on average for approximately six years. They started in the kid's program and have all been training in the adult's classes for almost a year. I can't tell you the amount of hard work they have put in to attain this high degree, but it's been a lot.

Most Uechi schools promote junior grade black belts, and all of them seem to make them earn them. Unfortunately, it takes years to comprehend all that there is to a traditional art; therefore, although many may receive these junior ranks, it still takes time to "learn" the art. That's why they are called arts!
